When you think of the deep dish pizza you think of Chicago not a small town like Holland Michigan. Crust 54 brings some amazing deep dish to Michigan and is competing against some of the best.
Going in they have various lunch specials to chose from all for $6. I couldn’t decide if I wanted deep dish or regular so I chose to get a slice of deep dish with a pop and then a slice of thin with a side salad.
The salad was probably one of the best side salads I have ever had. I can’t tell you the number of times I have ordered a side salad to only have a slice of cucumber and a couple tomatoes on it. This salad has the freshest of fresh vegetables. Mushrooms, carrots, cucumbers, black olives, cheese and tomatoes all on top a bed of fresh greens. The slice of cheese had a great crust and a didn’t flop around like most thin pizzas.
The next thing I dug into was the deep dish. The slice I chose from called The Sawzall and had pepperoni, black olives, bacon, green peppers, mushrooms, sausage and onions all packed in with a thick later of sauce and cheese. The crust was crispy but not burned. The sauce was thick and held together the pizza toppings alongside the cheese perfectly.
That overall was a very filling lunch and next time I will not need to order two lunches but it was just so hard to decide and 12 bucks for 2 meals is not bad. They change the pizzas they have as slices daily so come check out their selection. I hope to try their Spinach Stuffed next time as it has artichokes and a secret blend of cheese and spices.
