After dropping off a cousin of mine at O’Hare International Airport, my friend Pat and I were hungry and didn’t want to drive far to eat. I heard about a delicious diner in Schaumburg and decided to give it a try.
Maxfield’s Pancake House is in a little shopping plaza and when you pull up you can’t really tell it is a restaurant at all. Walking in you smell fresh bread and see an array of baked goods in a display glass.
We were sat right away and poured one of the best diner cups of coffee I have ever had in my life. The menu was your basic pancake house menu and so I stuck with something I knew. The combo number 1 was what I decided on. It included 2 buttermilk pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 sausage links and chilled orange juice all for around 6 dollars.
The waitress was very polite and made great conversation while still working a filling up restaurant. Our food arrived in under 15 minutes which was great because we were starving.
The meal looked amazing and smelled just as good. The pancakes were fluffy and the bacon was crispy but not burnt which I love. They give you a wonderful syrup dispenser with warm syrup that is always a plus.
What set this meal above other breakfast platters was the sausage links. Each link was the size of a bratwurst. They had a mild spice to them but when dipped in syrup they made a great sweet n spicy sausage.
So if you are in Schaumburg or anywhere near the area I recommend stopping into Maxfield’s Pancake House and order some great coffee and giant sausage links. They will leave you full and with some cash still in your wallet.
