Located in downtown Wilmington is a Deli that packs their sandwiches full of the freshest/local ingredients and leaves no one leaving hungry. I’m talking about Chop’s Deli.
Walking up to Chop’s I see the line forming outside and they had only been open for about 20 minutes. Igot in line and it moved pretty quick until I could be inside and out of the rain. Chop’s uses all Boar’s Head meat and cheeses in their sandwiches and offer as much local and fresh produce as possible. All their bread is from a local bakery and they also make sides and soups every day in house.
After reviewing there menu I decided to order the Hamburg. This sandwich contained black forest ham, muenster cheese, spring mix, tomatoes, pickles and mayo with chips a drink and a pickle on the side. When it came out the sandwich barely fit on the tray.
The sandwich was so tall I had to press it down just to take a bite. The bread was wonderful and soft with a little flake to it. The meat and cheese were so good and savory and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. This sandwich allows this place to be called a great deli.
So next time you are around Wilmington be sure to stop into Chop’s Deli and order yourself a monster sandwich. When I go back I will be trying their home made soup and pasta salad. If you are not near downtown Wilmington they also have a location in Monkey Junction area.
