After being in the car for the last 34 hours my friends and I arrived in Redmond, Washington which is said to house a pancake house that offers some of the best breakfast foods in the Pacific NW. I am talking about The Family Pancake House and since we arrived early in the morning might as well get our fill for breakfast.
When walking into this place it reminds me of a more classy sit down spot with beautiful chandeliers and soothing music being played. The service here is also on point. We got sat and within minutes had our beverages and they were ready to take our food orders.
Overlooking the menu I notice that the ham they get for their omelettes comes from my hometown of Holland, MI. I took it as a sign since I was 2200 miles away to order something with ham in it so I look over the omelettes and order The Farmer’s Special. This omelette features ham, bacon and sausage as well as onions, potatoes and cheddar cheese. It came with a stack of their famous pancakes so I really didn’t need anything else.
When the meal came I noticed the pancakes took over so much of the plate. When most diners give you a simple thin stack of cakes here at FPH they mean business. The omelette was also a golden mecca of flavor which I couldn’t wait to dig my teeth into.
They were fluffy yet so thick. Three of them along side an awesome omelette put a challenge up for me. I needed light butter and with syrup they made this a heavy but delicious start.
The Farmer’s Special was a wonderful omelette. The cheese was melted inside and the veggies were cooked perfect as well as the meats. With omelettes I hate when a kitchen can’t plan out the time to melt the cheese and not overcook the egg and FPH did it right. Every bite had a balance of meat, egg, cheese and veg.
So when you are wandering around at the we hours of the morning looking for a bomb breakfast spot in Washington be sure to swing into the Family Pancake house and get a filling breakfast that will not disappoint. I plan on next time ordering their country fried steak n eggs since I am a sucker for a good country fried steak.
