On the beautiful Island of Mackinac is a bar and grill that offers the best rum runners around as well as some of the best fish tacos in the Midwest.  The Pink Pony Bar and Grill is the spot and you must stop over.

With no cars on the island you are either walking to every destination or biking.  Near the east end of downtown is a bar and grill known as The Pink Pony.  Hearing they have the best drinks on the island I had to check it out.  This place was packed so I slid into the last bar stool at the bar.  I ordered a Jameson Black Barrel Old Fashioned.

I don’t normally post pictures of drinks but since I originally came here for a cocktail I should tell you how great it was.  An old fashioned is a cocktail made from muddling sugar with bitters then adding alcohol.  This one made with black barrel Jameson allowed for one of the best old fashions I have ever had.

Looking over the menu I decided to go with the Whitefish Tacos.  The Whitefish Taco lunch is pan seared whitefish in flour tortillas topped with a house-made slaw with a tangy ginger dressing and finished with a spicy avocado aioli.  Normally served with tortilla chips and salsa I subbed out sweet potato fries instead.

The whitefish was cooked perfectly and the ginger dressing in the slaw added a great finish flavor.  The sweet potato fries were sweet and seasoned perfectly. and overall this meal was filling and left me with a giant smile on my face.

If I ever get back to the island I will be sure to stop in again and at least order a rum runner since that was their featured drink.  The hardest part was having to walk back to the ferry after eating and drinking this whole meal.
