With a career and love for food and cooking you get to meet some great people along the way. Almost every cooks dream is to start their own place and do it their way. My buddy Mickey went from a franchise deli to opening his own in Holland, Michigan there is nothing like it.
This simple deli offers Holland in a building. The walls are covered with pictures of Big Red the lighthouse and other things. The menu is hanging up so you can see the various sandwich options. Right now they offer around 35 different sandwiches to choose from but I was told they will be expanding into other fun sandwich types (bahn mi!!).
Looking over the menu I decided to start off my journey here by ordering a Welkom to my Clubhouse. It is a toasted sub with ham, turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato, black olives, mayo and heidelburg mustard. The sandwich was great. The mustard had a bite and I loved the melted cheese with black olives. Meat was thick and overall I was very full over this. The bread was a sesame bread that had great flavor and a little crunch since it was toasted but was still soft in the middle.
Overall this sandwich and place was a great and easy lunch. My cousin swears by The Dragon’s Breath which is a toasted spicy turkey sandwich with some chiles and a sriracha mayo. I am just excited to see this place grow and explode into my home town. So be sure to stop in for a quick meal and say hi to the guys for me because I don’t usually plug Eatconomy in traveling but this place hits close to home so maybe it’s time to start.
