While coming into Ann Arbor Michigan for a day of shopping and spending time with friends, I decided to search for a breakfast spot.  I came across Nick’s House of Pancakes and am glad I did.

I have walked into over a hundred diners and while most fall into a very similar pattern there are some that stand out.  This place had a diner vibe with brown seats and smells of a basic cup of coffee in the air.  There was also a scent of bread which made me hungry for toast.

With that said I decided to order a ham, mushroom and cheddar omelette with a side of hash browns and their homemade wheat toast.

The food came and The toast is what caught my eye.  So already we have scent and sight for nothing more then bread.  But it was great.  The giant pieces of wheat were toasted perfect and sat over the rest of my meal.

Once I ate a couple pieces of the bread and moved the rest to the side it was time to start on the rest of my breakfast.  The hash browns were golden and had both large and small pieces of potato in them which was a nice change.

The omelette was wonderful.  It was fluffy and not runny or burnt at all.  The ham and mushrooms inside were cooked great and the cheddar melted throughout.  I was worried when the omelette first showed up because I wanted more cheese than what was on top and there was.

So if you need a good diner to eat at in Ann Arbor be sure to swing into Nick’s and come early.  The place was packed the entire time we were there and that caused us to sit a little while before our food arrived but in the end it was worth it.  The food was great and very filling which made it difficult for me to not take a nap.  Next time I come here I will be trying the Pecan and Banana Pancakes since that is what the others around me seemed to be eating
