Ypsilanti is home to one of the best beer festivals Michigan has ever seen.  Every July over 100 Michigan breweries come together to pour wonderful beer and have a grand ol time.  Along side that you build up quite an appetite and why not wonder the city looking for a gem to eat at.  I found one and that gem is Red Rock Barbecue.

This very dim lit bar is said to be home to some of the best chicken and brisket in the area and since I love me some chicken I decided to slide into a seat and look over the menu.  Home to numerous craft beers also I decided to keep my buzz going while I wait and order one.  The condiment basket was filled with different house-made barbecue sauces.  That means I get to play with different combinations.

I decided to go with the smoked half chicken dinner.  I ordered the mac n cheese and waffle fries to go with it.  The food came out fairly quick and smelled and looked great.

The chicken was smoked with cherry wood and dry rubbed with a Cajun seasoning which added a great flavor to it..  I loved good smoked chicken because you get a very juicy and soft meat if done right.  I tried a couple of the sauces with it but felt this chicken was good as is which is such a compliment.

The mac and cheese was next to devour and man it was good.  It was very hot and bubbling with cheese.  There was a hint of garlic that you don’t see much in mac n cheese and this added a wonderful element.

All in all this was a very filling meal with no room left for dessert.  Next time I will come with a bigger stomach and not fill it with as much beer.  They have combo meals also which offer brisket and pork, ribs and chicken.  The burgers looked pretty tasty and huge also.
