Located west of downtown Traverse City, Michigan is a burger place true to my heart called Slabtown Burgers.  I see what looks like an old house and that makes me smile.  House restaurants almost always have a flare of being cozy and have a great flavor to them and this place is no different.

The menu is simple and to the point.  Various burgers and sandwiches, fresh cut fries and home made soups and salads.   I decided to order The Big Blue Burger with cheese fries and a rootbeer.  The Big Blue Burger is a single burger stuffed with bacon, cream cheese and blue cheese.  It is then topped with ketchup, mustard, onions and a pickle.

When the food came the fries caught my eye first.  The fresh hand-cut fries topped with melted cheese had such a great taste.

The burger looked like any other burger until you bit into it.  The melted cheeses and bacon oozed out and the cream cheese in particular made this an awesome burger.

So whenever you are in the Great Traverse area you must stop into Slabtown and get a wonderful burger.  They also offer veggie burgers as well as gluten free buns.  All of their beverages are also made from Northwoods Soda which is made up in the same city.  Their root beer is wonderful and one of the best I’ve had.
